Natural Sound Workshop

”Mr. Nurock has unique credentials.”

- New York Times

In the 1970s, Nurock formed the pioneering NATURAL SOUND WORKSHOP, exploring the myriad sounds of untrained voices. The chorus of 25 toured and performed his carefully-layered works which featured cackles, sighs, moans and gibberish. The music had a kind of neo-primitive esthetic and the performances were both educational and entertaining.

"A vocal combination of the New York Philharmonic and D-Day. A wild and witty melange of shrieks and murmurs that somehow emerges hauntingly melodic." - SoHo Weekly News

“a crack choir of the classical avant garde.”

- Chicago Sun-Times
